Native missionaries ask for prayer after torrential rains created flooding and landslides in Bangladesh, Nepal, and bordering areas of India that left an estimated 250 people dead. Millions have been left homeless.

“There is a crisis of food supply, drinking water, places to stay, medicine and lack of clothes,” said an indigenous ministry leader in India’s West Bengal state. “Children are suffering most, becoming sick, and they have no bed to sleep on.”

In West Bengal and Assam state, native ministries are praying for funds to provide aid to flood victims lacking shelter, food and water. “Many have lost their lives and are still dying almost every day,” a ministry leader in Assam said. “Please pray with us for God’s mercy upon them.”

People in Assam are also suffering destroyed roads, electrical outages, and lack of fuel for lanterns and gas for cooking. “Many houses were destroyed, one by one,” the leader said. “Manna Mission wants to extend help to people with food grains, breads, food packets, temporary sheds and clothes. We want to help families rebuild their houses, kitchen, and toilets.”

In Bangladesh, a third of the country is flooded from monsoons that have killed at least 27 people and displaced 600,000 others. Homes are under water. An indigenous ministry leader said people are taking refuge in schools and are receiving little or no government aid.

In Nepal, at least 110 people have drowned or been killed by collapsed buildings. “There are landslides and church buildings completely under water,” a native missionary said. “They need prayer for shelter, food, and clean drinking water.”

Please join us in praying for those struggling to survive flooding and landslides in Southeast Asia.
