On Tuesday, ABC’s “The View” co-host Joy Behar finally apologized for disparaging remarks she made about millions of Christians a month ago when she said Vice President Mike Pence had “mental illness” because of his Christian faith.

Behar’s apology came after the Media Research Center launched a campaign calling her advertisers and asking them if they supported her anti-Christian bigotry. Behar later apologized privately to Pence and initially resisted the notion of giving a public apology even though Pence recommended she do so.

“Like I said before, it’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” Behar said in February. “That’s called mental illness, if I’m not correct. Hearing voices.”

Behar apologized publicly, saying, “So I think Vice President Pence is right. I was raised to respect everyone’s religious faith, and I fell short of that. I sincerely apologize for what I said.”
